This week has been a good one. I’ve been working on some fun projects at work and coming home to my Alberts, one of whom continues to amaze me with his imagination and descriptions of what he learned at school. Tomorrow night will be chill because I’m heading to DC bright and early to celebrate Liz at her sprinkle. I’m managing to squeeze in a visit with Alex too and it’s this kind of time with friends that keeps me happy.

On Sunday I scheduled a meetup with my writers group and headed down early because subway delays were threatening. I ended up not having any problems, so I found myself in the West Village almost an hour early. It was a great opportunity to hit up a favorite candy shop and when I still had time to spare I walked into Olfactory for some perfume. I loved my experience making a custom scent before and since I knew the ropes, I felt confident I could be decisive and create one in 35 minutes. (The meetup was literally around the corner.) I love what I wound up with and learned a lot about what scents work particularly well with my body chemistry. While I usually think vanilla smells too much like cake, it turns out it’s a note that jives with my skin – it made an appearance in both the summer and winter scents I created!

Last night, Albert was meeting up with friends. Since I wasn’t sure if he’d arrive in time for supper and Finn wasn’t particularly interested in the meals I offered to cook, we both had a version of girl dinner. He had grapes, raisin bread toast, and sun butter on a tortilla; I had tuna fish on toast two ways. Neither of it was fancy, but we were both very satisfied and some Wednesdays that’s all you can ask for.

This morning, we had family conference with V’s teacher. We started the morning strong, with him eager to dress up a bit for the occasion. He was proud to show off his work, and it nice to see his teacher in action. We walked away with some actionable things to work on, and I’m excited to help him grow.
